The Pedal Shop Bicycles was founded in 1972 by Don Bourgeois and was located near the Expresway Bowling Lanes before moving to its present address in 1979. As well as serving the local bike community, The Pedal Shop also holds the distinction of building the first BMX track in New Orleans, located under the Gretna water tower.
The current owner, Greg Lacaze, grew up spending a lot of time at The Pedal Shop, and eventually worked there from age 11 until he was 21. After spending the next decade in college, military service and the corporate world, Greg purchased The Pedal Shop in 1997. Today, The Pedal Shop continues to be known for its quality merchandise, superior service and bicycle advocacy in the community. |
